Elsie announced that the cost for the lunch on the Chablis will only be $15; that includes lunch and a bay cruise.  This is for our District Governor visit (Jim Bell) on Oct. 6 from noon to about 1:30/2pm.  Elsie also circulated the signup sheet again.  As an aside for you board members (or those members wishing to attend, there will be a board meeting from 11am-noon that day on the Chablis as well)

Forest reminded everyone to come to CLUB RUSH tomorrow at MBHS 12:20pm to 1pm.  Come help Forest and Melissa recruit new INTERACT members.  Call Melissa for more info. at 805 215-4584

Carol reminded everyone to come to the District Conference 10/2-4 in Bakersfield

Ferris Zoe is taking sign-ups to support our neighbor club in Cambria by attending their Fire & Ice Ball on October 17th.  She is trying to get a group together to travel all the way up to Cambria together to enjoy an evening of fellowship, entertainment and great food.  Please see Ferris for more info.

Don Doubledee gave an update on the upcoming Harbor Festival being held on Saturday, October 3rd…  The committee is excited this year as its going to be a new and different Harbor Fest…  One day only, free entry, on the Embarcadero between Harbor and Marina (the street will be closed), music at the parking lot, the street ends will feature our local fishermen and women, ALL vendors will be Morro Bay businesses, no fences, wide open – hopefully you get the picture…  If you can volunteer – please contact Don.

Dan Costley had several announcements but I received a message from my daughter in Spain so I was distracted.  Sorry.  He will be sending me the info by email.  As soon as I get it I will pass it along.  Oh- here they are now:  ~~September 28th, Pete Zotovich is hosting a “Who’s interested in being an Officer of the Club” bbq at his home – anybody interested in learning about board positions – please attend!!!  Contact Dan and/or Pete if interested…   ~~October 8th will be an Evening with Heart planning meeting at Dan’s home (Linda’s too) beginning at 530pm – he lives at 409 Rennell…  ~~for those who signed up or are interested in working the Cayucos Beach Concerts, please contact Sherrie Sim of Cayucos Rotary to let her know when you can work – they could really use your help!!!  Dates are Saturdays, September 19th (AJM Band), October 3rd (Tres Mojitos), October 17th (LuLu and the Cowtippers) and October 31st (Makana)

Pres Carol’s daughter Jocelyn (the one who messaged her during the meeting) had her first day of school in Spain (remember, she’s on a Rotary Student Exchange Program); it went well, she met the Mayor and there are still some language barriers that over time will surely get better!!

Jan "our very own Candy Lady" offered free goodies to anyone that shows up this Saturday for the Round-a-bout clean up.  Mike Pond will not be there - he is off traveling on the BIG money he won in last week's BIG raffle drawing

PROGRAM
Sydney Hunt, after learning that one of her grandmothers had Alzheimer’s and her other had Parkinson’s, founded a non-profit, Students with Heart.  She started it as a club at her high school to have high school students visit senior care facilities, providing those seniors social interaction that they very often, don’t get.  The Club has been very successful, boasting up to 40 members (she goes to that other Pirate school – Santa Ynez).  Sydney is going on to UC Santa Barbara this fall where she has already started another such club at the college level.  There, she has hopes of recruiting college students to form charters at their various colleges.  From there she hopes that the college students will reach out to local high schools to aid the high school students in forming additional clubs.  Her goal is to have younger generations bridging the gap between generations and leave no elder neglected, lonely or disconnected.  For you Facebook fans, please “Like” her Facebook page – Students with Hearts.

CLOSING
We continued with the new process for the 50/50 pot which now sits at $20; Jim Sanders’ number was picked but alas – he was NOT WINNER so the pot will continue to next week.
