Dues Are Due!
May 12th, 2009
Dear Rotarian,
Thank you for choosing to serve others above
self by embracing the ideals of the four-way test in your professional and
personal life. Our club has earned a reputation for its charitable giving made
possible by our Central Coast Classic and the countless hours donated by our
club members to make it happen!
Through your active participation, we have
contributed where needed in the world, internationally, nationally, and
locally. We have given people-power and/or money financial aid to community
projects. Our club has provided the seeds for local events, such as the Morro
Bay Car Show, Kite Festival, 4th of July Fireworks, and the Harbor Festival.
As we approach our new Rotary year, I look
forward to continuing and increasing our dedication to "Service above self." My
goal is to make these service opportunities inclusive of all our membership. We
will enjoy our own community as we work together in friendship to help locally
so that we can give in service. As an active membership, we will attract others
who also share in the Rotary pledge to give back to the world. We have the
ability to continue to be true leaders in our communities.
Our brightest moments and accomplishments are
just in front of us. We are planning our club's 60th Anniversary Gala and the
accumulated giving of $250,000! Our club has begun an envisioning plan to
accomplish our goals for the next five years.
Some changes will be obvious:
Starting in July, our weekly meetings will finish at 1 PM so that more of our
members can stay for the program.
New and continuing community projects are in the planning.
We will have FUNdraisers in which we can all participate.
As we accomplish more for our community, we can
feel good in our mission of "Service above self." Let's start today by getting
membership dues paid soon, so Chuck can relax (a little). I'm user-friendly;
let me know what you feel is right for our club. Please make suggestions.
Perhaps you know former members who might be interested in re-joining, let's
contact them and see if we can't bring them back. Let's remember our Foundation
so we can make a difference locally and also remember the International
Foundation so we can make a difference in countries that have so little!
For my part, I promise to ensure that our time
together is well spent. I am committed to making our meetings fun, respectful,
informative, and uplifting. I may embarrass you (in a good-natured way), but I
will not humiliate you (unless you deserve it).
With your help, I'm looking forward to our best
year ever!
Sincerely,
John
