Astrid Gallagher was our guest presenter today and inspired us all with her true life story about contracting polio as a college student which resulted in her living inside an iron lung for a period of time. Eventually she recovered, married, had three children and taught school for many years in New Jersey before she and husband Lee moved to SLO. Her polio returned very slowly over the years and now she is confined to a wheelchair and has a full-time caretaker. Polio has been a life journey for her and her positive outlook and spirit are unmatched.
